Laser Delivery At Mark Cox Woodworking
New lasers are in the house….
It’s always a good day when we get new equipment at Mark Cox Woodworking.
The first set of pictures take place on delivery day. What’s inside the box? Well we have a special CO2 laser which is used for items like tumblers, when removing the texture coating or by sparying a marking agent if you want them to be black or white lettering.
It can also be used for marking wood, like coasters or wooden coins. If you’d like more details about the laser or any specs, feel free to give me a shout.
The very last picture is what I call a fiber laser. This laser is strickly for metal like aluminum business cards, knives, guns, and various tumblers. Check out the process below.

CNC Machine Wooden Butterfly
This wood butterfly shows a cut out with the cnc machine and then painted and stained for shipping to Michigan.
It was made out 2×6 red cedar with 2 pieces cut and joined to make a piece large enough to cut out the 9×11 butterfly.
It was a nice little project. Remeber we can ship your products right to your door.

CNC Machine For Plastic [Good Cause]
I always try to do what I can to help out. Even when something seems like a small thing, it can mean a lot to another.
Here is a project that I did to help some people out with their face masks.
I cut out and gave away over 2000 of these face mask extenders or ” ear savers” to medical workers, hospitals, restaurant servers and workers at places like Home Depot and Lowes.

Laser Etching
Here at Mark Cox Woodworking, we can bring the style and design your looking for with all types of laser etching projects. Etched metal, plastic or even acrylic can be made beautiful with your custom design.
During the process of laser etching, the cover layer of your product is removed. This removed layer is very tiny, producing a very small depth, but the end result gives a contrast mark that can be easily seen.
Laser etching works well on materials with more than one layer of material like, coated metals, anodized aluminum, plastics and even acrylics.
Laser Etching Advantages
Etching, like engraving, creates grooves as well as lines below the surface of the material. Etching is a more viable option for thin materials and small projects such as jewelry. The numerous advantages of this process include:

Some othe additional things we can do with etching is placing designs in mirror. We can also take this mirror and paint the etched area to give it an accent color. Some examples of this would be like a mirror behind a bar or even a welcome sign.
